Mine Tours in the Royston Turquoise Mine:

Tours are held Wednesday and Saturday between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm, excluding holidays. Tours start April 1st. We expect at least a two week advanced notice for gauranteed tours. You may also catch us by chance if you stop by our retail location in Downtown Tonopah, Nevada, Otteson's Turquoise and speak with Donna and Dean Otteson. Groups by appointment only.

Right now we do not allow people to go down into the mines as the liability would be too great and the insurance we would have to get would make the price more than anyone would pay to come dig. We do however let visitors come to the mine, observe the workings and for $100.00/person you can get a bucket and go through our tailings piles which have close to a thousand pounds of material that we have missed as we are chasing the large veins. The digging is limited to three hours, one bucket full to insure there is enough for everyone.

Note this is a meant as pleasure/education adventure not commercial production.

You will need to bring sunscreen, gloves, a good pair of shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots, etc.), proper clothing (t-shirt, pants, hat, and some warmer layers as the weather may change fast), water, some sort of snack if you desire, and whatever you would like to dig with.

Transportation to mine is limited, so let us know if you need a ride ahead of time.
